The Animal Welfare Award was presented for the first time at EuroTier this year. An initiative of the German Association of Practicing Veterinarians. With the Animal Welfare Award, DLG wants to reward innovations that lead to better animal health and animal welfare.
According to the jury, MS Korund strives for a consistent, preventive approach of claw problems by early recognition of changes in the claw model. It is the first system that automatically identifies animals at an early stage and guides them to preventive claw care on the next occasion. Thanks to this early diagnosis claw problems can be prevented and claw health can be optimized.
“Health problems related to claws are the most commonly diagnosed health problems in dairy farms. They are painful conditions that affect animal welfare.
“In addition to pain and lameness, it has a negative effect on water and feed intake”, according to the association of practicing veterinarians.
The Animal Welfare Award was received by Mark Schippers, managing director of MS Schippers.
“We are of course extremely proud and honored to win this prestigious award. We are rewarded as an organization for our innovativeness.
“Every day we strive for successful partnerships in the agricultural sector to realize long-term solutions for livestock farming. The main aim is to ensure further reduction in antibiotics in livestock farming, better animal welfare and a longer life for animals. ”
